What a title for my first blog right? What I meant to say was - I started this business, during a pandemic (or according to social media, a panini). The past two years have indeed affected the lives of many, regardless of class, race, social status, age or gender. It has now become a part of our lives. Unfortunately, it has left persons in despair, hurt and great loss, with whom we empathize.
Contrarily, many have used this season as an opportunity, bravely facing the many obstacles in the way. Imagine rising costs of living, decreased salaries and a deadly virus, plaguing our lives without notice and destroying the very lifestyle we call "normal". The last thing on anyone's mind would be to start a business! It must be insanity.
The pandemic has exacerbated the already difficult, but seemingly easy task of starting a business. Instability and uncertainty is quite often questioned in entrepreneurship, even though the two cohorts - before and during the pandemic - bring similar difficulties. So what is the key, you might ask, to overcoming these issues? Let's cut to the chase: Mindset.
According to research -- ahh just kidding! Mindset as we know it, is encompassing of all our thoughts ideas, themes, theories, beliefs and situations. It is the precursor to our actions, which put our mindsets into display. If you view challenges as solely negative, you most likely will reap negative results, or no results at all. A pessimistic mindset, usually filled with fear, is the basis of our inability to strive to higher heights. If you view challenges as a jumpstart to resilience, it breaks the self-projected disdain, but helps the mind to blossom, giving fruits of productivity and exceptional results.

Think of a panini. The amazing, mouth-watering flavour which excites your taste buds and ---- let's get back to the point. The ingredients of a panini are placed between two slices of bread and into a panini press. This press is scorching hot, and presses the contents of the sandwich into a reduced size. However, in the end, it tastes good. Didn't get it? The pandemic is like a panini press. The difficulties presented during these unprecedented times have reduced our ability to do as much as we would like in comparison to our "normal" lifestyles. However, if we allow our mindsets to be positive, that good flavour - creativity and resilience - will shine brighter than any other.
I have definitely faced insurmountable challenges starting this business, or so I thought. A changed mindset, this renewed way of thinking, has brought me to this point. Today, October 21,2021, I launch the official Seytionery Creations website. I challenge you, the reader, the customer, my friend, to not think of this space as one of commercial value for purchasing stationery, but rather as a safe space for re-imagination, inspiration, creativity and a wealth of knowledge. Remember to have a positive mindset and soon, you too will be able to pursue your dreams, even in the midst of a - panini.
